Robert Wun Fall 2024 Couture
The newest collection of Robert Wu - Fall 2024 Couture - is basically reflection about the concept of time. Symbolism, surrealism and reference to human life – this is the short summary of his work.
This collection, titled “Time” was also very special because Robert Wun found his own company in 2014 – ten years ago.
In his show notes, he said he wanted to reflect on “why I’ve been doing this for so long, why do I still want to keep doing it, and for how long it will last. What does it all mean for the past 10 years? I found the answer through creating this collection, and it is to accept that one day everything ends — and that’s okay.”
Watching his show was like travel through passing seasons and the circle of life – from spring to winter and death.
Show started from winter, a season synonymous with reflection, sets the tone for the collection
First outfit - deepest black wool were embroidered with shiny white beading to resemble the joy evoked by snowflakes just landed. Snowflakes very delicate and ephemeral like our life. Rest of his dresses also symbolised passing seasons: summer with butterflies, autumn with yellow leaves and winter snowflakes.
The last four looks represented the skin, the flesh (a blood-red sheath covered in bugle beads representing muscles), the bones, and the soul (thousands of multicoloured crystal that created a cosmos-like effect).
